• Feature. Orange is very sweet and juicy, as well as deliciously fragrant. The trees/bushes grow to a nice size which makes the fruit easy to pick. They attract bees, butterflies, and birds.
• Sow. Soak seeds in water for at least 24 hours. Plant the soaked seeds in the rich potting soil about 1 inch deep. Place the pots in a warm area and keep the soil moist until the seeds germinate.
• Care. It should be warm, more shade-tolerant. It requires rich soil and good water permeability. These plants grow ideal when the temperature averages 65 degrees.
• Sun. Orange trees require plenty of sunshine and warmth to produce tasting fruits, so choose a spot that receives full sun for 8 hours a day.
• Expected blooming period. Oranges reach acceptable ripening about 6-12 or even 14 months after flowering and may be harvested within a period of 2-3 months prior to over ripening.
• Preserve. Mandarins will keep well for two to four weeks in a bag in a cool dark place like a refrigerator.
• Use. The fruit of the orange tree can be eaten fresh, or processed for its juice or fragrant peel. Or orange fruits can be used to make sauce, juice, jam, and baked goods.
